Annotating your artifacts as well as using the +tag feature to tag them to a specific competency indicator is a requirement for many micro-credential artifacts. However, it is not always required.
For more information on how to annotate your artifacts, please view the Annotating Your Evidence support article.
Visual Glossary of Annotation Tools:
- Blue Annotation Button - Found next to a Competency Indicator that requires an annotation.
- Annotation Tools - For image and text files, you can choose to mark a specific point or an entire section of your uploaded file to annotate.
- +Tag Indicator Tool - When required, you will use this tool to tag your annotation to a specific competency indicator.
Why can’t I annotate every artifact?
If the artifact’s directions do not specifically state that annotating is required, the annotation tool is not available for that artifact.
Why can’t I tag every annotation to a competency indicator?
In some cases, the artifact’s directions only require you to annotate your thoughts. These self-generated annotations are meant for open-ended context-specific thoughts that cannot be specified in a tag. If the directions do not specifically state to +tag your annotations to a competency indicator, that feature is not available for that artifact.
For example, directions will state “Use the annotate feature in the BloomBoard platform to create self-generated annotations for the competency indicators marked with the blue “Annotation” button.”
Why can’t I tag every competency indicator to my annotation?
Only specific competency indicators are required to be tagged to an uploaded artifact. These competency indicators have a blue annotation button. When you click the + tag indicator tool, only these competency indicators will appear in the list to choose from.
When tagging to a competency indicator is required, directions will state “Use the + Tag Indicator feature in the BloomBoard platform to tag and annotate specific competency indicators. Be sure to type a description that makes your thinking clear to the assessors.”
Why can’t I submit my annotated artifact to my portfolio?
If annotations are required to be tagged to a competency indicator, you will not be able to send your artifact to your portfolio until you have tagged all required competency indicators at least once.
