Gathering evidence aligned to the requirements and meeting the quality indicators in a rubric is key to earning a micro-credential. Often micro-credentials require annotations, and in addition, there are times you would choose to add annotations to evidence to make your thinking clear to assessors. Annotating evidence can provide explicit connections between the evidence and rubric criteria.
There are several options when it comes to annotating evidence. Choose the option that works best for you.
Option A: BloomBoard Annotation Tool
Step One: Type your evidence and/or upload the files to the MC workspace.
Step Two: Place your cursor next to the text or onto the image where the annotation is needed. Click the annotation icon on the toolbar.
Step Three: Type your annotation, connecting the highlighted information to a quality indicator in the rubric.
Option B: Google Document with Comments
Step One: Highlight text in your Google Doc, and right-click to select Comment. Alternatively, click on the toolbar.
Step Two: Type your annotation, connecting the highlighted information to a quality indicator in the rubric.
Step Three: Link your google drive to the BloomBoard platform to share the file. (Add Evidence to a Micro-credential)
Note: Google Links that are copied and pasted into the requirement section will not be accepted.
Option C: Word Document saved as a PDF with Comments
Step One: Select the text you wish to comment on or place the text cursor where you want the comment to appear.
Step Two: Click the Review tab from the toolbar at the top of the screen. Click the New Comment button from the toolbar.
Step Three: Type your annotation, connecting the highlighted information to a quality indicator in the rubric.
Step Four: Save the file as a PDF and upload it to the BloomBoard platform. (Add Evidence to a Micro-credential)
NOTE: If you choose not to save the document as a PDF and choose to upload the file as a Word document, please make a note above or below the uploaded file: Annotations provided in the word document.
Option D: Handwritten Annotations
Step One: Annotate your evidence using handwritten notes. Handwriting must be clear and legible.
Step Two: Select a scanning device (a scanner/copier or an app like Scannable).
Step Three: Save the file and upload it to the BloomBoard platform. (Add Evidence to a Micro-credential)
NOTE: Please avoid photographing evidence with handwritten notes. The image is unclear and reading the annotations is difficult.
Video Timestamps
Option One: Type the timestamps as a list in the MC workspace.
Option Two: Use the BloomBoard Annotation Tool to create a listed note of timestamps next to the uploaded video.
Option Three: Research and select a video time-stamping program that best suits your needs.
