When working on and completing a unit / micro-credential, it is important to understand the 2 distinct types of indicators that are used to review your submitted artifacts.
Pre-Assessment Check:
Definition: These indicators help the Pre-assessor determine if the artifact is complete and is ready for assessment of competency. These pre-assessment requirements may include, but are not limited to; the use of specific templates, legibility, audio and/or video quality, and other characteristics that indicate the artifact is complete. If all the pre-assessment indicators, in each artifact, aren’t yet met, then the portfolio is not assessed for competency and it is returned to the learner for completion.
The Pre-Assessment Check indicators are found to the right of the artifact.
Important Notes:
- If all the Pre-assessment Check Indicators aren’t yet met, then evidence is not assessed by BloomBoard Assessors for competency and is returned to allow the learner the opportunity to complete the artifact and resubmit.
- You may see that a subset of the artifacts are complete (Example: Artifact 1 & 2 are complete but Artifact 3 is not). In this example, the submission has NOT YET been assessed for competency. ONLY when ALL artifacts are complete will the submission move on to be assessed for competency by a BloomBoard Assessor.
- Pre-assessment check typically takes 1 business day to be completed by our team of Pre-assessors. Once a submission passes pre-assessment it takes between 3 - 5 business days in total to be assessed for competency by BloomBoard Assessors.
- For support on updating an incomplete submission, go to the support article Updating an Incomplete Submission (M5, M6)
Competency Indicators:
Definition: The Competency Indicators are the expectations of quality that your evidence needs to demonstrate to show your knowledge, skill, and ability. Be sure to refer to the Competency Indicators as you work on your artifacts. If all the Pre-Assessment Check Indicators are met, evidence is then assessed for competency by BloomBoard Assessors using the Competency Indicators.
The Competency Indicators are the second tab found to the right of the artifact. Click on Competency Indicators to access the tab.
Important Notes:
- This involves the assessment of the submitted evidence against the competency indicators by BloomBoard Certified Assessors to determine if the unit is earned
- Remember that a unit is not a pass-fail test, but a reflective learning experience where you may not earn the unit on the first try. That is ok, you will get feedback and have the opportunity to apply it and work to improve your demonstration of the required knowledge, skill, and/or abilities.
