When working on and completing a Micro-credential, it is important to understand the 3 distinct types of indicators that assessors will use to assess your artifacts.
Pre-Assessment Check:
Definition: These help the pre-assessor determine if the artifact is complete and is ready for evaluation. These pre-assessment requirements may include the use of specific templates, legibility, audio and/or video quality, and other characteristics that indicate the artifact is ready to be assessed. If all the items in the pre-assessment check aren’t yet met, then evidence is not checked for competency and is returned to allow the platform user an opportunity to complete the artifact and resubmit it.
The Pre-Assessment Check is found to the right of the artifact.
Important Notes:
- If all the pre-assessment check items aren’t yet met, then evidence is not checked for competency and is returned to allow the platform user an opportunity to complete the artifact and resubmit it.
- You may see that a subset of the artifacts are complete, but they have NOT YET been assessed for competency. Only once all artifacts are complete will the submission move on to a BloomBoard assessor.

Competency Indicators:
Definition: If all the Pre-Assessment Check items are met, evidence is then checked for competency indicators. These indicators are the expectations of quality that you, the platform user, should meet to demonstrate competency. Be sure to refer to the competency indicators as you work on the artifacts. Assessors utilize the competency indicators for assessment.
The Competency Indicators are the second tab found to the right of the artifact. Click on Competency Indicators to access the tab.
Important Notes:
- This involves the actual assessment for competency of the micro-credential by a BloomBoard Certified Assessor.
- Remember that a micro-credential is not a pass-fail test, but a reflective learning experience where you may not earn the micro-credential on the first try. That is ok, you will get feedback and have the opportunity to apply it and work with your coach and school teams.
Annotations:
Definition: Annotations provide the opportunity for platform users to make their thinking transparent by having them show the planning/thinking behind the choices made in an artifact.
If you have annotated your artifact, click My Annotations at the top of the Indicator panel to view and edit your annotations.
