There are times when it may be necessary to know what model the micro-credential you are working on is as well as what submission type is being used. This is especially helpful when determining which set of support articles best meets your needs.
Please note: Your course or micro-endorsement may include micro-credentials with varying model and submission types.
Determining your Micro-credential Model and Submission Type:
Model 4 Micro-credentials (M4) - In the top right corner of your micro-credential, you will see an information icon as well as text that says MC Info. This is located directly above your micro-credential submission status. Hovering over that icon or text will display your micro-credential model and submission type.
Models 5, 6 & 7 Micro-credentials (M5, M6, M7) - In the top right corner of your micro-credential, you will see an information icon as well as text that says MC Info. Hovering over that icon or text will display your micro-credential model and submission type.
Why do we have different Micro-credential Models?
The micro-credential model determines the participant’s experience while completing the micro-credential. This experience can be tailored to the type of program the participant is completing or to the type of learner (high school student, K-12 educator, school administrator, para-professional, workforce professional, etc).
- Support articles specific to Model 4 (M4) micro-credentials can be found here.
- Support articles specific to Model 5 (M5) micro-credentials can be found here.
- Support articles specific to Models 6 & 7 (M6, M7) micro-credentials can be found here.
Why do we have different Submission Types?
The submission type can also be tailored to the participant’s program or learner type.
- S1 - Full Portfolio Submission - The participant must complete all requirements in a Model 4 micro-credential before being able to submit their completed portfolio of evidence.
- S2 - Full Portfolio Submission - The participant must upload all artifacts in a Model 5 or 6 micro-credential before being able to submit their completed portfolio of evidence.
- S3 - Single Artifact Submission - The participant can upload and submit each artifact separately. They do not need to have a completed portfolio of evidence prior to submission. S3 submission type can be found in Models 5, 6, and 7. Please note, that participants must submit the artifacts in chronological order, but they do not need to wait until the prior artifact is assessed before submitting the next one. All submitted artifacts will be assessed in chronological order.
